Dr Benjamin Moore

BSc (Adv) MBBS (Hons) FRACP PhD

Dr Moore is a Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist with expertise in the management of arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms – such as atrial fibrillation), as well as genetic heart disease and adult congenital electrophysiology. He performs complex catheter ablation, pacemaker and defibrillator implantation. Dr Moore is a Staff Specialist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and holds appointments at The Mater Hospital, St George Private Hospital, and Macquarie University Hospital.

Dr Moore graduated with Honours in Medicine from the University of Sydney in 2009 on a full academic scholarship. He completed his cardiology training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in 2017, before undertaking three electrophysiology fellowships at leading national and international centres, including Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Royal Melbourne Hospital, and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, with additional subspecialty training at Toronto General Hospital. He subsequently practised as a Consultant Cardiac Electrophysiologist at Vancouver General Hospital and St Paul’s Hospital prior to his appointment as a Staff Specialist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Dr Moore has expertise in complex ablation procedures, including atrial, supraventricular, and ventricular ablation. His fellowship training at Royal Melbourne Hospital and consultant practice at Vancouver General Hospital were undertaken at internationally recognised centres for the management of atrial fibrillation. He has specialised knowledge in rare cardiac conditions, and is among a small number of specialists worldwide with dual training in adult congenital electrophysiology and cardiogenetics.

Dr Moore was awarded a PhD from the University of Sydney supported by a National Heart Foundation Scholarship. His research focused on the management of arrhythmias in adults with congenital heart disease and was followed by a post doctorate in cardiogenetics. He has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications, including a textbook chapter, and is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney.
